Serving Nourishment, Spreading Warmth: Our Hot Meals Initiative.

Hot Meals

For more than two decades, Pilgrim Lutheran Church has been a beacon of compassion and community outreach. Every Saturday at 11:30 a.m., a heartwarming tradition unfolds in the basement of our church—a free hot meal for the community. This 100% volunteer run program has been a steady source of sustenance, not only for the body but for the spirit as well.

Their commitment has enabled us to serve over 1,600 meals each year, nurturing a sense of togetherness and hope! Let us know if you would like to come and serve some Saturday!

Meet Maggy Hovden.

Children, Youth & Family

Hello! My name is Maggy Hovden and I am the Youth and Family Coordinator at Pilgrim Lutheran Church and School. I am originally from Decorah, Iowa and graduated from the University of Iowa in 2022 with a degree in Global Health and Spanish.

I recently moved to Chicago to start my Master in Social Work program at the University of Chicago. In my new role, I am empowering youth and families for faith formation, coordinating Sunday school with our amazing youth leaders and congregation members, and planning youth events and intergenerational service projects.. I am amazed at how supportive everyone involved in this community is, the creativity of students in organizing weekly Chapel services, and the passion for service shared by the church and school.

I am most excited about connecting with this community and working together to show God’s love everywhere we go! Feel free to contact us to learn more.

Pilgrim Endowment Fund

“Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received.” Peter 4:10

The purpose of the Endowment Committee is to further the mission of The Pilgrim Lutheran Church and School through a comprehensive deferred giving program that focuses on support for church, school and community where small donations have the largest impact.

You can donate cash anytime to create a lasting positive impact.

If you are a potential recipient, or if you know of an organization who would be a worthy recipient of a Pilgrim Church Endowment Grant, please fill out this form.

Uniting for Global Impact: Our Outreach Beyond Borders.

Global Ministries

Pilgrim Lutheran Church has two amazing global partners: the Lutheran Churches of South Africa and El Salvador. These partnerships give life and joy to us every day!

El Salvador Mission Trip
We invite your prayers for Pastors Kristian and Anna-Kari and the 43 other people joining them to experience the witness of the Lutheran Church of El Salvador, July 31st through August 7th. They will be participating in medical campaigns in rural areas, supporting churches planted among resettled refugees, installing solar panels, supporting youth and young adults seeking education, and joining the Lutheran Church of El Salvador in advocating for human rights.
